Come on...we all need more geese in our lives! And really you're just we swapping a girl for one of the boys you already have...so, 2+6 is still the amount you would have!

LOL You gonna stop by and help build yet another pen? The funny part is I have a huge barn. But. It would need repairing to predator proof to my standards, AND its not close enough to the house for my comfort. I like having them close by

that is what people say but the gander will only pick one true goose and the others espically with 3 geese the other 2 geese wont be as important to the gander and thats why its handy to have atleast to ganders when you have 3 females and most of the time the gander will only mate with 2 of them and maybe the third one and the third goose will have least fertile eggs:/
So i would keeps two ganders :/

I just called Metzer. She assured me that one gander can cover 3 geese. I was about to order another male and she said naaa you don't need one. Meanwhile I will run a Craigslist ad and see what happens.

A gander is supposed to be able to cover up to 5 geese in general, but I keep them inpairs because the females are happier and the goslings are better off with both parents being attentive.

Last year I had one male with two geese, and one male with 3 geese.
The two geese produced, and two of the three geese produced, but both the ganders stuck with their favourite Mrs while the other had to cope with goslings being stolen by the gander and taken to the favourite goose, and with the other gander, the two extra females just kept together and raised the goslings of the one female (other produced nothing) independently of the male who just wanted his favourite Mrs (oh, he wanted all the babies, of course, so I fenced them off so he couldn´t steal them). This year I´ve decided to keep them all in pairs except for two geese with one gander, as I´m doing an experiment on colour with those ones. They´ll be fine if they don´t share a nest, being sisters, so I´ll just keep an eye on them.
So, short version is: One gander will probably do, but you´re more likely to get success with more.

And that´ll be in the second year, too, when they´re more sensible and breedable in general.

Well unfortunately Metzer is sold out of Toulouse for the season now. I just got lucky since my order was smallish that they could accomodate me. I would if I could but can't. . LOL Maybe I will get lucky on CL with another male Toulouse someday : | I'll just have to cross fingers he can handle a harem. Thanks so much for all the input!
