Hello All,

First time chicken owner here and would like to get some help with identifying breed and most importantly the gender. I incubated these chicks from eggs that came from my mother's flock. I believe most of them might be mixed breed but wanted to ask since I am curious. I am mostly interested in knowing the gender if possible, I understand that it might be too early. From what I have read and seen, I believe #8 is a roo, please let me know if that is correct or not.

All of them will be 6 weeks old this week.

I have numbered each chick/picture 1 though 8 to help with knowing which one is which.

I apologize in advance for all the pictures I am about to post.

Thank you all for your help in advance!

I think 2,4,6 and 8 look to be cockerels (young roosters). Their combs seem pretty red for their age. I'm no expert, so wait for others to weigh in.

Do you know what breeds your mom started with? The crested ones make me think Silke or Polish, but those are the only crested chickens I'm familiar with so I maybe way off. The white seems to have beard coming, so likely an Easter Egger. Again, I'm no expert.
