So my hubby and I decided to raise chickens about 7 weeks ago..So we went out and bought 6 babies on a whim (which I never recommend). Well then 2 weeks ago we (as everyone else) went a little chicken crazy and bought 7 more bantam babies (which one sadly passed

). Well then my hubby decided that he needed some RIR! Anyways my first babies are out in the coop now and doing great! Going into the coop at sundown and letting them out at sunrise...I am so proud of them!! So anyways I am very nervous about introduce the new babies to my older ones. While I still have a while before they go to the coop, I want to start getting prepared! Do I need to seperate the new babies (when they do go out) while still being able to see the older ones? If so I really don't have room to seperate my coop to allow both groups to go in. Any suggestions about a temporary coop for the new guys? I really don't want to risk any injuries or anything like that so I want to do everything right! Any suggestions/pictures would be great!!! Really need some help...new to chickens and have never done this before!!! Thanks guys!

I prepare for the integration by placing a VERY LARGE dog crate inside the coop. The new girls remain in the crate at night. During the day the are allowed outside to roam the backyard with the big girls. In the beginning the new girls will stay together when not in the crate and the big girls tend to ignore them. When the little ones grow till they are approximately the same size as the big girls I remove the crate from the coop. I takes a few days for the newly formed flock to reestablish order, but it all works out.
