Help with leaky coop, please!

Instead of traditional caulk, I would use some Flex Seal. They, sell it at Wal-Mart and hardware stores.

The coop design looks good, do you have nesting material/boxes?

You could also suspend a large tarp over the top of the coop, attaching to the chain link fence and across to the wood fence. Then, the coop will stay dry and the ground will stay a bit drier too. Also, the hens can go out during the rain.

Anyways those are my thoughts.

I didn't include a pic of the nest box, because that area stays dry! Other than one minor fix. I have one long box, and the girls are fine, after I put up curtains made from old jeans.

I like the tarp idea, though the rain doesn't seem to bother them much. I'd like a bit more dry ground! My kids came in the other day telling me about the silly chickens out in the rain! We have supports up to cover the run with wire; I just need a drier day and a little help

Sounds like you've got things handled. Now, maybe you can order some pizza and invite a friend over to help out.

When people mention pizza, I drop everything. I'm always up for some pizza. I love the curtains made of jeans idea too!

The first thing to do is get at least 16 inches of overhang on those sides, that will help a lot with wind blown rains getting in through those holes. The front edge needs to have at least 2 feet of overhang and the back would be fine with 16 inches.

our new coop has 3 feet of overhang on the human door side and 16 inches for all the other sides, this keeps the rain from hitting as well as making it harder for predators. Our coop is also 18 inches off the ground in the front (sloping site) and a little over 2 1/2 feet off the ground at the rear.

Wow! That's a lot! The nice roof on the coop was the main reason I decided it was worth renovating. Sigh. The back is fine, since it slopes down. I'm thinking I'll add to the sides and turn it so that front (which slopes up) is facing the wood fence, which should keep rain from blowing in there. At least I have a little sunshine!
