I have 10 RRR hens that are 8 months old. All are in good health and most are laying. I've noticed here lately that the tail feathers on 6 or 7 of them look ragged. 3 or 4 are loosing feathers around their rear ends. I also noticed some dried blood around the base of some or there tail feathers. Any advise is appreciated.

Thanks, I'll check tomorrow. I didn't think I would have this problem since I use DE everywhere and on everything. If that is the case then how do I treat them and will they begin to look beter if the treatment is successful?

I have one little girl who has almost no tail feathers around her back end/vent. She has no lice, mites, bugs or any other kinds of "cooties" that I can see. She is the only one. She is also a favorite of the cockerel! Don't know if this has anything to do with it or not?? Right now she is broody so I am hoping this might help.

It is rather embarassing when someone comes to see the birds and, she bends over to peck at some food or such. What a moon that is!
