I've been lurking and have learned tons but am stumped trying to decide the gender for my 10 week old Dominiques! I've searched the internet and spent hours trying to see a pattern but cannot tell what I have. Out of 10 birds I might have 2 hens/8roosters, or 7hens/3roosters, or all hens. Help! I wish I had read all the info when they were little (didn't know they had sex-linked traits then)... I could have marked them.

I'll soon be over-crowded and need to remove some birds but need to know what I have. Can anyone help? Any special little clue that might aid the newbie?

Combs and wattles are similar, a few are larger in body size, tail feathering varies a lot, no particular aggressive birds. There is some crowing but with 30 birds all in the chicken house on roosts, I can't tell who is doing it. I know that time will finally make it obvious but don't want the problems over crowding and multiple roosters will cause.

I read that and one of mine is very light but the smallest of the bunch and has almost no tail. I'll go look at them again for color. Thank you!

Is that a Barred P. Rock that you're holding?

Thanks for the link... that's the one I should have read 8 weeks ago, huh! It sounded to me as if the black legs were not a good indicator at their age now?

He's pretty.

I think I have mostly hens...(pullets?) then. Makes the choices more difficult.

Might as well show more stupidity, too. The chicks are only 7 weeks not 10. They sure grow fast, don't they?

Thanks, again.
