No i got them from a ACE hardware, they were selling little chicks and ducks.
were they pooping normally? Check their behinds to see if they could have gotten clogged up
Okay. I agree with the post above, a couple of mine had to be cleaned off when I first got them. Pasty butt is annoying.
Yes I saw that and I’ve been trying to clean up the poop but on one of my chicks it gets all over the feathers
When I clean mine I cut the bottom off a plastic milk jug, so they can stand in the water. Then use a q-tip to work the poop off. They hate it but it has to be done. Also don't be concerned if a couple feathers come out.
Also putting some apple cider vinegar in their water (look up the proper amount) can help the poop not be super hard.
having a messy behind is a part of being a chicken. However, it can get to the point where the bird can't properly push out what they need to push out. Especially with chicks, you have to be careful for any buildup. I usually just hold on to the chick with one hand, and gently wipe the area with a warm wet paper towel until the booty looks clean enough.
