This is my first ever hatch. These were rescue eggs, long story short construction took out mama and I saved the eggs before they took out those too.

I’ve consulted with my farmer brother in law and have gotten this far with the eggs, and done a lot of research. I have 10 chicks with movement after candling, and now have them in lockdown.

Some have started rocking back and forth. My estimate is they could be around day 35, but I’m getting worried they may not come out in their own. Should I be concerned yet if they are rocking?

Welcome to BYC!

What is humidity and temp at?

The eggs will start rocking back and forth as they start pipping. You'll know when they've internally pipped when you here chirping. Ducklings can take 48+ hours to go from pip to zip so don't be too concerned if there are long periods of time with no movement. If it's been over 24 hours with no external pip you can drill a safety hole on the large side of the egg (candle before doing so). They shouldn't have any problems if you keep the temp and humidity correct and avoid opening the bator. Good luck!

How would I drill the safety hole? And would I be able to hear the chirping through the incubator? Sorry if these are silly questions. I just want to be through and do best by the ducklings.

Yes, you can here them chirping through the incubator. Here is an Article 'Guide to Assisted Hatching for All Poultry'. Basically you take a small screw and carefully drill into the egg until it punctures through. Best to candle before doing so so you don't hit a blood vessel or the babies. Most eggs that make it to lockdown are able to hatch on their own.

It’s been two days since I saw the eggs moving, and nothing has happened yet. Should I intervene?
