I have a Black 16 week old Silkie with a single comb? I cannot figure out the sex, can someone help? Her name is Pip. I have not seen any Silkies with single combs. She came from My Pet Chicken. Is she mixed?

My 2 white ones have single combs. That looks like a roo. (as does the white one in the back). Doesn't look mixed.

The single comb is just a trait of poor/hatchery quality.

That's a rooster for sure.

The single comb gene appears in hatchery-bought birds now and then. I have a 'pet-quality' Silkie of my own that has a single comb, and her skin appears to be a light mulberry hue instead of black, like it should be.

Here are pictures of our other Silkie, Emma. A few of you mentioned she might be a roo. What do you think? 16 weeks old.
Also, if both of our bantum silkies are roo's, will they try to mate with our full size hens? We have a flock of 10 and don't want babies.
