Help with new flock in Pensacola, FL

I know this post is several weeks old but if you haven't found what you wanted yet, there is a Farm and Nursery Mart on Pine Forest Road and I'm pretty sure there standard size chicks were sexed.
We purchased bantams, that were not. Also Manning Feed store in Milton.

Hi all! First post here, but thought I'd offer some info.

Baker Farm Center in Baker, FL sells chicks, though when I called, all he could advise was "white legged." Did a search for those and, well, you can guess how useless that was.

The Flower Basket (or whatever it might be called now) in Crestview always has chicks. They have had chicks, ducks and bunnies since I was a wee thing and they've always been good at knowing what you were getting.

I went to Tractor Supply in Crestview today and purchased my first 6 chicks. I got an assortment and took a gamble on the sex; going to just let nature take control of this one. The employees there were pretty helpful as to what I was getting, but I'd trust the Flower Basket folks over TSC.

I know this is a very old thread, but I am also in Pensacola. Just getting started with my chickens, so I was wondering what suppliers you may have found out about since your original post. I'm willing to travel. I grew up in Baker, FL, so familiar with the area.

I'm looking for specific breeds, and I'm mostly interested in getting hens that lay pretty eggs. I'd like to have all sorts of colors.

I'm going to Barnes Feed Store on Palofox today to see what they've got. I live right down the road from them. Reminds me of going to the feed store in Crestview as a kid. I've gotten all of my vegetable garden plants and supplies and fruit trees from them this year. (New home owner!).

Thanks!

Hello, I just moved to Pensacola and also want to have some chickens. I was just going to start looking around to see where I too can get healthy, naturally raised chicks and found your post. Can you let me know if you have had any success in finding them and share the info with me? I have a booth at the Palafox mkt and was going to ask around there next week but it seems you have already inquired there. I would appreciate sharing info and certainly if you have not been successful and I find a source, I will let you know.
Thanks and all the best, Robin

Hi Robin. I found a few breeds at Garden and Farm Market on Pine Forest today. They have Black Sex Links, Black Austrolops (prolific layers), and Silver Laced Wyandottes. I got one of each.

Tractor Supply also has chicks right now, but the breeds are all lumped together and you can't know for sure what you're getting.

I joined the Escambia Fl Chicken Swap on Facebook and have found several breeders for all the ones I want. That's probably your best bet. Just join and post what you're looking for. Very friendly and helpful bunch!
