I have aquired a few cochins from different breeders here on BYC. Their all around 2-3 months old and I'm trying to decide how to pair them. I believe I have a partridge/frizzle roo and a smooth partridge hen, YAY!, Then I also think I have a white fizzle hen and a white smooth roo YAY again, However I also have 2 self blue hens, and a black smooth roo and and a black frizzle roo, I may also have a few black hens. I'm unsure of whats the best way to pair those. I had thought maybe the 2 blues with the frizzle black and, pair the smooth black hens with the smooth roo or vice versa.. HMM what would ya'll do??? I need to get some pictures hopefully soon..

Self-blue X black will give you all black chicks (unless some of the blacks carry a copy of the lav gene). All the resulting chicks will be split for lav: Lav/lav. Breed them together or back to the self-blue parent and you will get 50% self blues; 50% black (depending on which of those crosses you make, half or all of the blacks will be split for lav)
