Does it have to be in the middle of the night or can it be in the while the sun is setting?

Also, the lady I got the 🐣s from, said to put them in from behind the hen.

I'm a tad bit nervous, honestly. I'd hate for the hen not to take them in.
I don't want to wake up to any messy surprises, if you know what I mean.

Hoping for all pullets. Lol 🤞🏻

Personally I would do it when it's night, not dusk. With a really broody hen I'm not sure it matters which side you put them under. If she's good and broody they should stick. Good luck! I hope they're all pullets.

My broody took five under her at 2 pm. Stayed on her fake egg till 4 pm the following day, then marched her chicks out of the coop and across the back yard. That was two weeks ago today.

It depends on your hen I suppose. I think my broody would raise a week old duck if the duck would stick around.
