help with poult

both legs are doing this bend at the joint to the same side. its a month old. mom is an rp dad was a bronze cross. why is it and how do I fix it

Do a search on this site, I think some folks have made hobbles to bring them back in. Is it being raised by it's mother or do you keep it in a brooder?

I had a turkey to do this about the same age. We had to cull it. We tried splinting it but it seemed to stress her out even more. Your turkey will get to where it can't hardly move plus it will not put on weight because it can't get around good. Also my turkeys would always run over her. It will just get worse and plus the other leg will start to do the same thing.
Sorry for the bad news but just saying that I had the same experience.

its in a brooder. both the legs swing to the same side when it stands with its legs facing the same way (other leg looks like the one you can see)

Yea that's how mine did. I don't know what to tell you to do but we culled ours because she was in so much pain. She would chirp really loud when she moved.

What do you have on the bottom of the brooder?

non slick newspaper that they quickly cover with their food

I'd personally get rid of the newspaper... I don't know of a newspaper in production here that would be 'non slick'. I do know what you mean about covering the ground in food though! lol. I have guinea fowl keets at the moment and they do a great job of spreading the food about and making a filthy mess!

I used paper towel over the top of my newpaper and have just upgraded to rubber shelf liner that is really handy. I'd try something like that to hopefully prevent future issues.

Read up on splinting... and give it a go. If the poult isn't suffering yet then you have nothing to lose!
