My 4 week old guineas escaped out of their enclosure this morning. They apparently all went in separate directions. One was on the front porch, but as soon as it saw me it took off in the woods. There's one way down in the wetlands near my house (I hear it screaming its head off), but no idea where the other 2 went. What are the chances that they are smart enough/old enough to find their way back to their enclosure (that includes slipping back through the backyard fence and into the shed)? They have food and water in the enclosure and I left the door open.

I had that happen once and they will hang down in the woods. You will see them come back up from time to time just hopefully nothing gets them while they are in the woods!

I hope they all end up finding each other. I know one is over in the woods by the neighbors house, one is the complete opposite direction, and I have no idea where the others are. The screaming stopped, so I guess they either got eaten or hopefully located each other. I'll keep their food out just in case I guess.

I was hoping they would come back tonight....so such luck. The dog got ahold of one of them that came back into the backyard this morning. It's ok, but living upstairs recovering from shock and teeth. Do you think once it's healthy enough to move back outside that the others might come back to rejoin it?

I think there is a chance some of them will come back. I had a few get out and they came back a few days later. I put some water out for them near an area that I thought they might get some protection from predators. In my case the little guys were hanging out under a building' I finally caught a couple of them by running them along a fence line and into a corner. They are quick little birds.

good luck

I wouldn't hold you breath on them coming back, especially at that age. They very skiddish by nature and until they old enough to know where they territory lies, they're natural reaction is to run! I had a couple of keets around that same age get outside last summer, never to be seen again! Sorry

If you can cage that one up where you want the others to come to, they might come back. They really flock together, and will search for each other.

Good luck!

If you do get them back, try training them with treats too. Millet & sunflower seed bird feed works great & ours will come running for it. Helps reinforce the idea that your place is a good place to hang out.

Good luck, I hope they all come back.

I don't think they are coming back. The one that the dog got ahold of is doing ok and it is back outside in a more secure enclosure.

Yeah thats too bad the odds were not very good. They are skitish little buggers and run like the dickens. I think mine came back because there were a number of them left in the coop. And a few did not come back. Guineas do seem to sort of come and go that is for sure.

good luck
