Okay, so I have had sebbies now for about 2 months...they were sexed by their down, but now I am curious if they are the 2 females and 1 male I am hoping for. Can anyone PM me or let me know how to vent sex? I just need to know what I am looking for! Thanks SOOOO much!!!

I'd love to see your babies,Mine are just now 1 month old and I think I have two males and three females. But I am clueless for sure .

Females will have dark dark backs, while males will be either entirely yellow, or a lot lighter than females.

Please post pictures.

Yep! I do know that and as far as their feather color, it looks like I have two females and a male, but have heard that that isn't always accurate--that's why I'd like to vent sex. They are two months old now and have lost most all their colored down, which has been replaced with their white, secondary feathers. I'll have to get pics, but you can't tell by pics now with their all white feathers.

I hope I'm able to post the link to this thread here. It's also from BYC.

That gives some information on vent sexing.

You know in a pinch you can tell somewhat by their behavior. Boys are bold and the first to be at the front. In the face of a threat they will go between the threat and the girls. Vent sexing is great but if not done right it can damage them permanently and it takes some practice. There are instructions online how to do it. Basically once you get where you need to be you look for a "winky" or a lack of a winky.

PLEASE be careful if you decide to vent sex without assistance! You can easily cause a prolapse. It is best to be taught, in person, by someone experienced in vent sexing rather than reading instructions and "practicing".

It requires a certain touch and amount of pressure and if you do not do it properly, you can cause damage. I've seen it done a number of times by very experienced handlers and I still am cautious in any attempts. It is not as easy as it sounds!

A male has a small corkscrew shaped penis and the female does not, plus she has a tiny slit. Sometimes it is VERY subtle.
