Hi, one of our adolescent turkeys was fine last night, but off the perch this morning and is now having seizures. I have been searching, but have not been able to find out what these symptoms mean. This is the 3rd turkey we have lost this way in the last couple months. It comes out of the blue. They are fine, then next thing weak, lethargic, then seizures, then death within 24 hours. All the chickens and turkeys have been dewormed a couple weeks ago. Any ideas of what this could be and how to prevent it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!!!
Take care, Lee

Could be Cryptosporidium or giardia or some sort of unrelated encephalopathy. Why did you worm them? All from the same hatch? What are they being fed? Do you have adult turkeys that aren't affected? Do they have access to standing water when/if they range? Do you have a vet that can do a fecal for you (need a fresh, nasty cecal poop for best results)? That would rule out/in protozoans. Any other info you can think of would be helpful. Have the seizures all followed the same course (looked the same)?
