My hen is showing signs of sour crop. She's in very rough shape and refuses anything to eat or drink. I can feel a large bubble on her chest that felt like a balloon, and it is very squishy. I haven't ever had problems with my chickens until now. This morning she was very lethargic and refused breakfast which she's NEVER done in her year and a half life! I immediately freaked out and stood watching her to see if I could figure out the problem, another of my hens pecked her in the face so I went in and got her. While walking away with her yellowish slime oozed from her beak. I immediately made some calls and searched on line and came up with sour crop. I did induce vomiting and now regret doing so as I've read that it can in fact be dangerous and cause them to aspirate and possibly die. I was very careful and tipped her only enough to allow the vomit to pass out of her beak. I did massage gently on The crop and allowed her adequate breaks to rest between massaging and inducing her to vomit. I was able to get a large amount of slime and mashed pellets from her crop. She's not acting any better and I'm very concerned as she will not eat the yogurt I offered and isn't drinking water. Although her front is a bit smaller than it was before vomiting. I've never gave my chickens anything with a syringe and am scared to do so. I know if I don't help her she will surely die soon. She's already skinny and is not passing any poop. I have Her separated and she's being closely monitored. I have read that giving them red wine, monistat cream, olive oil and some other things can possibly help them to pass the blockage but I do not have any of these things in my home. I have caro syrup which has helped my children to go number 2 when they are constipated. Does anyone know if that's okay to give her and how much I should administer? If not any help with this would be greatly appreciated because I'm at a loss on what I can or should do. I've read a lot and keep seeing people say to do one thing and then another person say not to do it. This hen means a lot to my children and I'm hoping she will still be alive in the morning so I can go buy anything I need to save her life. She's always been a happy and healthy chicken so I'm hoping we can get her through this. Any help would be greatly appreciated I don't want to see her pass away! Thank you for any help you can give in advance.
