2 of my buff orpingtons have swollen, watery eyes. One has bubbly discharge from eye. Possible slight nasal drainage. I have been giving them tetracycline and electrolytes in their water for one week. They don't seem better. What do they have, and what should I do? Thanks so much.

You should get some Vetrx, It sounds like worms in the eyes.
The instructions are in the box of the vetrx, You would use a q-tip, dip it into the warm vetrx solution and then you would push the q-tip up in the top of the chickens mouth, not hard just a bit . follow the instructions in the package.

Tetracycline is such an old antibiotic it rarely works on anything these days. You need to get Tylan soluble antibiotics. It mixes right in their water. Call around to see if anyone has it. If not order it at firststatevetsupply.com it's not cheep but the container has a long expiration date. Get it as soon as you can so you don't loose any. The hace a resiratory infection. MIx 1/2 teaspoon with half gallon water and give for 7 days. Make sure this is the only water available. Up their nutrition like offering chopped greens, scrambled eggs and other treats to make sure they are eating. Add treats in small amounts.

After the 7 day course of Tylan give them unflavored yogurt once a day for 7 days and then every other day for another 7 days. My chickens would not eat the yogurt unless I mix it with Cheerios. The antibiotic will also kill the good bacteria in their systems and the yogurt replaces that.

Treat all of your chickens. If you only have 2 don't waste the Tylan. Mix 1/4 teaspoon with 1/4 gallon of water.
