Yes, sexlinks can lay very young, they are cross bred do to so...they are prolific, if not long lived layers.....most burn out and slow way down or stop laying by 2-3 years.

Thanks! I got another egg this afternoon from the jailhouse.

It seems they get cranky, pecky, then get red, then start crouching. At least these birds. Wonder if that matches other people's experiences? It may be that I was unfortunate in adding the littles just when this is happening.

Oh well, peace is reigning in my backyard. With two coops for now. I'll try free ranging the bigs together tomorrow.
