Help with type of breed this is?

I found this to be a very interesting read on this link. http://www.backyardpoultrymag.com/8-1/what-breed-is-it-understanding-sex-link-chickens/ I believe that I have a New Hampshire Red cockerel and I know I have a Barred Rock pullet. I was thinking of building a small breeding coop and run to house these two in the spring to be sure they breed together and get fertile hatching eggs. According to the link if I understood it right, they should produce black star sex-links. Just something I have been considering.

Yep, you'll get black sex links from that cross. I bought barred rock hens for that purpose, but then I kept one of the bsl cockerels to be my main rooster--messed that sex linkage up!

Yup, I guess the traits are not passed on genetically, which sucks. Would make things a lot easier huh?
