We are constructing our own windows. They will have 1/2 inch welded wire on them, plexiglass panels that slide to open and a lift-up type shutter on the outside. Does anyone have instructions on how to do this?

This is just an idea of the design, I have to get pics because we are to the point of cutting out the holes for the windows and pop holes.

One of the simplest ways is to use a 2X2 stock that is designed to frame wooden latice. It already has a notch cut dow the center of the board. I woould have the plexy on the inside and have the wire and shutters on the outside.

when i made my windows, I used 2 x 2 wood and ran them thru a router to create a notch down the middle on the boards.
I cut the corners at 45 degrees and glued up and nailed 3 of the boards.
I then used caulking and put some in the notch placed my glass inside and put the forth board in place (glued and nailed).

I hung these on the outside of the coop with hinges at the top. I installed 1/4 screening on the inside so nothing can get in if I have the windows open. they are really for when it gets HOT. Check my BYC page in a few days when I update it with the latest changes.

I am almost done with the coop and can start the run soon.

just a piece of plexi to slide up/down?

Am thinking... staple the welded wire to the inside of the hole.

Bottom and sides of hole should have a "block" to hold the plexi up, and a second "frame" to hold the plexi IN (and slide up/down). Unless you're super into craft, this wouldn't require mitered corners (45 deg cuts)

This *would* require a handle/hole to move the plexi up/down with, and a hook to keep the plexi up/open.

I can sketch a section for you if this sounds like what you're thinking... ?

Edit: Or, route a single piece of wood into an L shape, fix to wall on 3 sides like so:
wood frame---> L| <--- wall; open side of configuration (at top) toward window opening.

Does any of this make sense? I find it difficult to describe things, since my education was 5 years of "you shouldn't have to explain, the drawing should tell us everything!"
