Help- wondering if air sac injury?

One of our 4 week old chicks had a tiny puncture wound under her wing 2 days ago. She rested in the house for a few hours, and had been back with mama since then, running around like normal.

Today I was checking the site, and she has a pocket of air under the skin. She's in no distress, acting and breathing fine.

I'm wondering if she had the equivalent of a sucking chest wound that closed up, but had pressure build up.

Any thoughts or experiences with something like this?

Yes, a chest wound could do that, but she'd have trouble breathing and probably would have been making noises when she breathed.

That should just eventually dissipate. I'd keep an eye on it so she doesn't puncture it again. I'd be tempted to see if it would speed up shrinking with a warm bath though.

It's a ruptured air sac. It may resolve over the course of a few days, but it if doesn't or if she shows signs of respiratory distress, then releasing the air may be an appropriate step to take.

Thank you! Today it looks a little smaller, and it's not taut, there is some elasticity to it. Since she's acting fine, eating, and running around- just going to continue to monitor for now. Thank you!
