help won't use nester

I have 2 hens that just started laying, they are the first 2 in this group to start. The insist on laying under the roost and not in the nest box I have golf balls (2) in the nest box.

I have found that when they first start they will lay everywhere and anywhere. I too had a fake egg in the boxes but mine were laying two feet in the air, off their perch!

Then they were laying in the run and on the floor of the coop. They eventually found the nests and realized what they were for

It took around a week of them wondering what was going on and now they are good girls!
