HELP wood shavings do or dont.

How does anyone know what the right thing to do is??? I have been reading about so many different options for my coop floor. Had decided the pine wood shavings may be something I should try. Then when reading specifically about wood shavings ... there were as many reasons NOT to use it as there were benefits TO use it??? How do you know which is correct??
Then I decided to look into sand ... same thing.. some loved it and some hated it.
Just built a new coop... need to make a choice SOON ... but, I need to know how to make a successful choice? I know no one that has used either?
Thank you.
I use mini pine shavings have since begining. When chickens were babies I used the bigger flakes but find it easier to sift out poo from the mini flakes. I also use deep bedding method and LOVE it, sam's as 3killerBs

Does it all come down to how much you feel obliged to scoop versus how much grossness you can ignore?

The best thing about leaves and deep liter is that it is not possible to scoop and you don't have to look at much poop. It's still there but out of sight and out of mind. Maybe it will go away before you have to deal with it. But, a lot of foot traffic will mess up the process.

If I was a scooper I'd go with sand.
