I had a chick hatch with the yolk not fully absorbed. It's not too big, just a little yellow with a few veins. I put it back in the bottom of it's shell and did the whole cup thing this morning around noon. It's now moving around in there a lot so I took it out. It is still there, but kind of small. But it is talking a lot and trying to walk. It is still big enough that it's tripping over it and I don't want it to rupture. I put it back in the cup without the egg (it pooped in it) so there was poop on the chick and in the egg. I cleaned off the chick the best I could. What do I do? Should I take it out or is there something else?

Did it hatch completely on its own or did you assist? I would leave it in the cup for the night---check it in the morning. If you got the temp set right---it will be alright without water.

It was well over 24 hours when I did assist by some help of people in here. It really wants to move around. Is it going to be detrimental to it if I leave it in the cup?

I personally feel it would do more harm dragging it around than in the cup----with hopes it absorbs the rest tonight.

Thank you for your help. I was just concerned about development if it couldn't move. But I'm a first timer here so I appreciate any help!
