We recently constructed a run for our chicken coop, and I now realize now that we failed to make the fence tall enough. All of our chickens have a clipped wing, but one of our EEs is still managing to get out. I am getting really tired of having to go outside and toss her back in ten or twelve times a day. Any suggestions for a easy, cheap solution? It doesn't have to be predator proof, just something to keep the girls in. Thank you!

Deer netting and zip ties. It's like $15-20 at the hardware store and you get way more than youll use so you can replace it if need be (depending on the size of your run). I'm not 100% on how it'll hold up under snow but does fine in the rain and keeps birds of prey out.

Also, could clip her second wing. Maybe that would slow her down? And how many chickens do you have?

My run is about 4 ft high. If you clip the feathers on one wing of each bird it will help.

Make sure there is no blood in the shaft of the feather before you clip or your bird may bleed to death.

On some birds you may even have to clip a few secondary flight feathers.

One wing throws the bird off balance and is more effective than trimming equal amounts off both wings.
