This is my first time incubating eggs, I have 1 egg hatching right now which I first noticed had pipped about 8am today(British time) its got as far as the beak poking through the she'll but has been like that for probably the last five hours and not made any progress! I know it takes time but the chick now has fluidy bubbles coming out of its nasal passages and to me it looks like it is gasping for breath through its mouth and this is every few seconds! Its been like this for about an hour and a half. I'm too scared to try help it in case I kill it but don't want to find it dead in the morning. Is it normal for them to be fluidy and doing this?

Normally I would say don't worry until at least 18 hours after pip, but if there are bubbles from the nose/beak, that is not a good thing. I know this post is coming a little late, and probably yourself and nature has resolved the problem, but if not I would at least widen the pip and make sure the egg is clear of any more excess fluid and the beak is out and breathing air.
