HELP

I have a new baby chick about a week old. I came home and it was just sitting down with its eyes closed. I picked it up amd it didn't move at all. It kept losing balance if I tried to stand it up. Please help

Is it under heat? Is it in with any other chicks? Is its vent pasted?

Make sure it has access to a heat lamp (but can also move away from the heat if needed), and offer it electrolytes in its water if you haven't already. Make sure none of the other chicks are picking at it and make sure it's vent is clean.

Some loss is to be expected with young chicks. Aside from making sure they are physically OK, keeping them under heat, and offering them electrolytes, there is little that can be done for sickly chicks. Either it will survive or it will not.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's sad when it happens, but sometimes in spite of all we do, chicks are lost. I hope any others you have are doing all right.
