Help!

This is my first time hatching chicks, fortunatly i haven't put the eggs in yet, but I was trying to adjust the temperature, and the wafer fell out! So I screwed it back on but now the temperature isn't adjusting its staying way to high, I don't know what to do, I've tryed decreasing it drastically and still no change, is there a chance I tightened it too much? Thanks!

It's a hovabator not 100% sure the model it's under control now, not Shoukd what I did but the thing you use to adjust the temperature iant working you have to turn the wafer manually but the temp is back to normal
