One of my chickens is attacking the other. I have 5 chickens and 4 5 month olds. One rode island red is attaking a buff orphineton. The last time that she atacked her, I thought that the buff might die. We have done everything that there is to do before this, like separating them for months. Do any of you guys know what to do? Thank you so much.

You don't mention the age of the chicken being attacked. Is there a size difference? Is there any way you can keep them separated by a fence of some sort for a while? Sometimes they if get used to each other through a fence they are more tolerant of each other. But I have never had such vicious attacks in my flock. A peck here and there, sure, but not such injuries that one of my ladies almost dies. Anyone else?

Does the picked on girl get on well with everyone else? I'd pull the bully for a few days and knock her down in the pecking order. But if tbe little one is not safe with the other girks, you may need to pull her instead.
There are tons of people with way more e perience who will be more helpful if they jump unto this thread. Good luck!

We let the all of our chickens free range starting at about three to night time. The chicks have been able to fly out of the coop before the chickens sometimes. Here is a picture of the run. Thank you all so much!
