Hey guys. We got home and all is good, it appears it was a false labour. She has completely ballooned though, won't be long now. She is staying in our garage for whelping, and the poor thing looks so uncomfortable! Her belly sticks out past her ribs.
Her name is River.

I had a German shepherd that had 13 pups, so it's not impossible. Do you know who the father is?

Not sure, her heat snuck up on us. We suspect a purebred Bull Mastiff whom we have pictures of, we'll just need to see those pups for confirmation

As you can see she is huge, bigger than her first litter of 8 little lab puppies...

Well, if she is bred by the bull mastiff then they could just be much bigger puppies making her bigger rather than more puppies. Or it could be both

Her first litter was 8 pups. I'm not sure how litter size works in domesticated dogs... is it genetic or what? Her momma always threw 7 or more pups.

I'm not sure! I think it probably definitely has a genetic component but not sure
