Hello i have 6 baby chicks.. well they are about 6 weeks old and are fully feathered i got them march ninth and was wondering when i should fully remove the heat lamp. Switch them from a starter food to a grower food and lastly transition them out side with the rest of the flock?

All depends on your weather, where you are brooding them, and your setup.

You can remove the heat when chicks are acclimated to you ambient temperatures whatever they are.

I have moved chicks to the shed as early as 4 weeks and as late as 10 weeks.

I keep mine on a non medicated starter grower, mines a combo with 18% protein. I switch to an 18% all flock ration when they are big enough to eat a pellet.
