My daughter (5) was carrying this duckling around not sure what happened but he or it has been holding its legs like this for about ten minutes now and has moved them (kicking as if swimming) but hasn't held his legs down like the others. It can't float right either what should I do for it.

Oh no! Did she carry the duckling by the legs? Maybe they dislocated? That is such an unnatural angle, poor thing. :'( I hope more duck-knowledgeable people will come post!

She carried it by its body so I am confused by what happened I wondering if it tried to escape and her hands got on its joints.either say something wrong I have it in a box now by itself. I was keting get wet in the tub that's how I noticed poor thing cound hold its head out of the water I had to get it out before it drowned

Poor little one! Does the duckling seem to be in pain if you palpate his hip joints? Do things move as they should? Any swelling or discoloration?

It doesn't seem in pain at all. It moves the legs in the water but it as like a human swimming not a duck

Are you able to put the leg back under him and keep it there? If it won't even stay in place I would guess it's a dislocation and I don't know how to treat that. If it's a only a sprain, a few days confinement might be enough.

You can give him a little tumeric. It will help reduce inflammation.

Those legs look abnormal I'd say a vet is needed. Poor lil one. If they are pulled out of socket then it's important to get them back in asap.
