I raised two Wyandotte hens that turned a year old in March (my first time raising or owning chickens). Two weeks ago I lost the silver laced.....went out to the coop one morning and she had passed away. My big golden lace (Delta) hasn’t seemed to be bothered by this at all. I was worried about her being alone so this past Sunday I got a 4 month old Tolbunt Polish pullet. Tried to introduce them and it was a disaster!! The little bird took a pretty good beating, but she’s ok. I’ve set up a large wire crate next to the coop so they could see each other, but no one can get hurt. Delta(the big hen) stays out in the backyard (completely fenced in) during the day and puts herself to bed at dusk. Eventually want the little one do do the same. When both are in the yard, the big hen just ignores her but I’m always out there too. Both birds are extremely docile and nothing more than big pets. So, my question is, will the Wyandotte eventually except the smaller Polish? Do I need to do anything different? Thank you in advance for any advice/ help.

Yes the big hen will eventually accept the newcomer. It is always like this when introducing new chickens to existing chickens. Just keep them separated in coop during coop/night time. In a little while they will become gregarious to each other.
