Help.

Ok I really need help, my hen Aura does not look good.
She has her tail like if she is eggbound, she is unbalanced, runny poop(yellowish white with some green) and her beak opens when ever she breaths.
How can I help her?
Please help.

Have you checked to see if she is egg bound or if an egg has broken up inside of her?

I have never had a egg bound hen..but the open mouth breathing sounds like upper respitary to me..you could try give some antibiotic..

Does she rattle or sneeze? or cough? Can you feel an egg by her backside? What has she been eating?

Where is she now? She should probably be separated from the flock by now.


A warm area and some vitamins and TLC should help to start.

Acre of Blessings (Angela) just had one die last week because she was egg bound and an egg broke inside of her. The poor girl gasped and gasped trying to get that egg out. I heard the poor hen on the phone. It was awful. It can make them very sick.

Today, right now on my lap she laid an egg without a shell.
and boy did she start eating after that.
I think she'll be alright but I'll wait until tommorow to check if shes back to normal.

Hi there, I'm no expert and I'm sure someone better qualified than me will come along in a minute but one of my hens has a broken egg in her right now. I noticed she was straining in the nesting box and I could see a little bit of soft shell coming out of her. I took her in and gave her a warm bath where she passed a little more of the shell. I felt inside her vent too to see if there was any that I could take out. She ate a little yoghurt and is resting now inside. Does any of this sound familiar? Hope it helps.
