i gave 3 day old chicks I got from a store and 2 of them have poop by their vents and the dent itself looks red and swollen. I am a first time chick mom but had ducks for years. What’s going on? How do I fix this?

Do an on site search on 'pasty butt'. For starters clean gently with warm water and check the temperature at which they are being maintained.

I looked online and found it. Thanks for the reply I soaked it for a bit. They can still Pooh. After they dry a bit I’ll try again. They came home to us with this problem. Probably because of shipping and cold. I’ll get it fixed

I had three chicks from two different mail order companies that had poopy butts.
I soak their poopy butts in warm water. Then with a gloved hand I squeezed the poopy together until it crumbled away from their vents. One took several soakings to get it all off. Don't pull the poopy.
