Need to know what to do. Mother hen left the nest with 3 eggs left behind. One was pipping. She stayed away most of the day with her new brood. I took the 3 eggs and put under heat. 12 hrs later the one chick has hatched. Do I take her back out to the coop and put it under the mother.... with the other 16 chicks?? Will this ONE chick survive the older chicks? Or do I wait till tomorrow to place under the mother?? Giving her a day to get some strength before facing her 16 siblings??? One chick is in my dining room 15 minutes old and alone. HELP me make the right decision please!
