help?

i’ve heard once ducks get older the drakes get less mean to girls. i have a one year old pekin drake who has never been with a girl duck before (except for my khaki girls when they were like 6 weeks, but he thought their were his kids not mates)

will he be good or even meaner since he’s never had girls before? and because he’s older?

It depends on the ducks and your setup.

I've got two 'mature' drakes and ones a bit of a git - turns out he has bad genes too so the girls won't be subjected to his 'attentions' any more.

I suspect it comes down to all sorts - competition, size, personality, strength etc.

Try it and see - are you a bit anxious for your girls ?

Is he seperated at the moment ? If so perhaps introduce him 'off season' ?

right now he is staying at a friends house, until we can get him some girls of his own. the khaki girl is in with a drake her own size
