If they're eating anything besides a crumble type commercially made chicken feed then they need grit.We have not yet. I stupidly was going to start week 8 like i did with our first round of chickens.

Thx. I will tomorrow and add grit to their feed. She finally pooped a little...Oh boy.
This is not good.
Are you in the US?
I highly recommend buying new feed. Asap.
Don't add grit to the food. Just offer it in a separate dish and only if you continue to feed her anything besides chick feed.Thx. I will tomorrow and add grit to their feed. She finally pooped a little...
I so appreciate the info, knowledge. We love her so already!! We can’t lose her!!
I just wanted to thank you for advice and help. We soaked her and she passes a little bit not much. We put lots of comconitnoil and honey on her...we’ll see how she does. Thx again. That is a prolapsed vent (cloaca.) Isolate her from other chickens in a wire dog crate away from any flies. She can be soaked in a pan of warm Epsom salts, or soapy water. Keep it clean after she passes droppings. Always keep it moist until you are able to push the red prolapsed cloaca back inside. It may come out with pooping or laying an egg. Oh just saw that she is only 6 weeks old. She may have been constipated which could have caused this. Honey, hydrocortisone cream, vaseline, or a similar oil can be applied to the vent to keep it moist. Honey can reduce swelling.
