If it is a he, once he starts crowing, you could look into a Rooster Collar. My grandma uses them for her loud hens, and they keep quiet! It really just muffles their noise, however.

I'm sorry for even suggesting a rooster collar. I had only mentioned it because I'm in city limits and willfully bought 2 roosters. I'm going to let mine crow.
