Help!!

I am sorry about your pullet. At 5 months if she cannot walk, I would consider Mareks disease as a possible cause. Botulism is also possible, from eating something dead or found in a compost bed. The sneezing may be coincidental. Mareks can cause a decrease in immunity that makes them vulnerable to common diseases. Give her supportive care with fluids and watery food offered to her. Keep her warm and separated so that she doesn’t get bullied. Where are you located? If you lose her you may want to get a necropsy to find out what she has. Here is a list of state poultry vets to contact:

Thank you, I am in Missouri and she is definitely dying and at this point all I am hoping for is that she will go quickly. I'm extremely concerned that whatever this is is going to hit the rest of my flock. I will see if a state vet will help me figure out what is going on :( thank you

Look around your yard, look at your feed for any off odor or bluegreen mold, and look for any dead animal remains. Mareks is fairly common disease, unfortunately, that can strike young chickens. There are 4 types, including the neural, eye, skin, and the organ types that can happen. Hopefully, it is not Mareks, but here is some reading:

I’m so sorry for your bird. There might be a vet that will do a necropsy to see what made her sick.

I posted to a different group earlier and they recommended the same so I have already searched for dead animals... as far as food goes, I feed them daily and keep their food in my house so definitely no mold or odors. I'm hoping that I can get the state vet to do a necropsy. I'm really hoping my poor birdy passes soon

Hello i'm dying to know, is she okay? Is she doing better? Best wishes for your chicky friend.

Thanks for checking in! She is still alive but completely paralyzed. I'm hoping to have my dad put her down today because she is obviously suffering. One of my silkies vanished this morning and her chick is still with the flock which is odd because they never leave each others sides. I'm assuming the worst. After an uneventful summer I guess I'm paying my chicken owner dues now 😭

So sorry for you. I had a chicken that, like yours, took forever to die. I felt terrible it took so long. I have also euthanized one before. So sad to see them suffer.

Oh, no, I hope that your silkie shows up. Hopefully, she got scared and will show up. One of mine got taken off by a feral cat once, and we only found some feathers on the fence and ground.

Just keep your sick chicken comfortable.

Poor thing, you can put some milk and water in a small bowl.( watered down milk ) Then break up some pieces of bread and put them in with the milk water. You only need enough milk water to get the bread soggy. Put it where your chicky can get it and it might make her feel better. Hopefully you will find your lost chicky. Best wishes!
