It's just the membrane, wet it down and go slow. If it bleeds stop and wait a few more hours.

Ok so I got a zip all the way around. He would cheep every time I cracked a bit of shell off. He seemed to be almost panting though. Is that normal? Here is my zip job. I put him back in the incubator already.

Why didn't you cut through some of the membrane? Did it start to bleed? It will need you to cut through the membrane so it can push out when it's ready.

I didn’t know I was supposed to. I thought you were supposed to leave the membrane. A tiny bit came off when I first started and there was a bit of pink but it stopped quickly.
