I had a hen become broody and she ended up collecting 12 eggs. When I discovered where she was and she was definitely broody, I did candling and we were going to have 10 babies. Well, yesterday they all decided to hatch. One of her eggs pipped but has not zipped or made any improvement since about 6pm last night. I am an experienced chicken lady but none of my hens in the past have hatched so many eggs in one sitting. My question is when should I intervene and help this little one? My daughter is panicking that we are going to lose it. It is still alive and peeping. Momma hen is very aggressive towards anyone getting close to the hatched babies and the egg. What should I do?

If mom is aggressive towards anyone coming close, there’s not too much you can do. She’s been doing a great job so far, so personally I would trust the egg to her :)
