HELP!!

Are you able to mix a group of hens that includes a rooster with another group of hens without a rooster?
Yes but you still need to do a "look don't touch" period of integration for the first couple of weeks. The rooster will hopefully smooth the integration.
Do you have lots and lots of space for an integration?

What is a look but don’t touch? We don’t have that much space but are willing to add onto the coop if necessary.

Welcome to BYC.

The recommended minimums for space are:

For each adult, standard-sized hen you need:
  • 4 square feet in the coop (.37 square meters)
  • 10 square feet in the run (.93 square meters),
  • 1 linear foot of roost (3 meters),
  • 1/4 of a nest box,
  • And 1 square foot (.09) of permanent, 24/7/365 ventilation, preferably located over the birds' heads when they're sitting on the roost.
Integration generally requires extra space because chickens are not eager to accept strangers in their territory.

I divided my run when I integrated my new chicks. I just used a length of welded wire. They could see each other, but not get close to one another.

Before I integrated my rescue hens, I quarantined for 6 weeks - they were in a totally separate area, and I changed my shoes/apron between birds. Glad I did, too. My newbies had lice! Ew!
