Help!

Hey y'all! I came home from work Thursday night to 10 he was told 1 week old black sex link chick's. They're adorable and I'm stoked BUT we started with a heat lamp the red one, and I ordered a brooder plate. It came today I plugged it in after I cleaned out the craye they're in. The chick's are under it, it's 10pm and every one is quiet. However, I am worried they aren't warm enough. Before they were eating and peeping and pooping while we were just hanging out watching TV (the crate is in the living room) but tonight they're quiet. My boyfriend says it's because there's no red light keeping them awake, but I am so worried that they're going to freeze. It's about 68 degrees in my living room and I am going to turn the heat up just incase. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

They're loud when they're cold, so if they're quiet, they're comfy. Your boyfriend is right, they're probably asleep.

If it's 68 degrees in their room, they don't really need any additional heat. I live in Colorado, and brood mine out in the coop with a brooder plate.
