Iridescent feathers don't remotely indicate gender, all healthy birds with black on them will have it. :]

Oh I agree on that. Our australorp hen(that we were told was a Jersey Giant as a chick) has beautiful iridescent black/green feathers . My point was the bits dandelion fuzz on the base of the tail feathers and and way they are curving over. Looks like a majority of our roosters tails.

This is what I am referring to is the downy type feathering on the roosters tail feathers (that I call Dandelion Fuzz).
