HELP!

How is the little guy doing now?
He's still alive, and still curled up. He's chirping a little more but I'm a little concerned. Not sure if there's too much 'scabbing' from the bleeds when I helped him before. I'm colourblind, so no difference between red and brown.

Not sure if anyone can tell from the photo.

Well, Zafar 2.0 has arrived, but with a lot of help from the midwife ... me!! He was stuck in his shell and the congealed blood. His neck looks a little awkward and so does one of his legs, but he's now next to a heat plate to rest and recover from the traumatic birth (though he seemed much less stressed this time than I was).

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes, they are much appreciated, and hopefully over the next couple of days he'll be his lively self. His voice certainly is lol.

Zafar (which means Victory), mum and late dad.

Awwww!! I’m super happy he hatched. That’s a very fitting name of the little guy. He will be a chick to never forget, even when he’s big! I’m really happy you were there to help. I’m sure he is too. What an adorable little thing! ❤️ :)

Thank you. Feel sorry that he has no siblings, but he'll make up for it when he matures I'm sure.

I'm glad I decided to check on him to realize he needed help, and that he survived. He has a will to live, so will see how he is in the morning. Having absorbed two yolks he might not be hungry too soon (though food and water in there already). Since he looks very much like his dad, I hope he doesn't inherit dad's bad attitude lol.

Are you hatching more? If not, he would be ok without other chicks, but I recommend finding somebody with healthy chicks around his age that you can get. Me too, you came and checked on him at the perfect time. Yeah, he’ll probably be full after that much, lol. Haha! Same with my little bantam babies, their dad is full of attitude. What a strong little guy, still a happy chick even after a hard hatch like that.

At the minute I'm a little concerned he's not up and about like previous chicks. Like his namesake, he may have issues with his legs, and his neck isn't very strong (probably because I helped him) but I have to remember he's only new, but he seems more like a preemie. This will take patience.
Since he's in a small indoor brooder (on my shelf) he'll only be indoors till he's fully feathered and can go out with the girls. Though he'll be on his own till he matures. Had hoped one of his siblings might have hatched so there were two, but with a singleton he won't have to fight for food. At least not until he meets Aunt Mo lol ... who thinks all food is hers.

Trusting Abba for healing, and that these issues are only momentary.

I did wonder though whether to bath him, as not sure if there are still bits stuck on him. He certainly hasn't 'fluffed up', he still looks like a 'drowned rat' bless him.

Yours are beautiful.

Ohhhh. Yeah, im sure he’ll be ok, and with him being weaker, I’m sure you’re right about not having to share. How’s he doing now?

He's still with us. I don't know that he's eating, but he has had a couple of drinks that seem to take a long time to swallow, then ge opens his mouth as though he's going to be sick. I've certainly never experienced this with any of my previous chicks.

I did try to put him in with my broody hen, and although she seemed to accept him, I would hear him squeal and find him well away from her. Even tried creating a breeding area for her and him, but she doesn't want to be in there, nor with him, so brought him back in with me. He also isn't walking, he's moving about on his hocks. I have prayed for his healing but it's taking it one day at a time.

Oh no.. does he have antibiotics in his water? We’ve been using antibiotics for all of the batches of chicks, and they turn out better than without. It sucks that she won’t keep with him. I haven’t seen anything either, it’s really weird.
