HELP!

What is this? Just discovered. I have quite a few chickens so unfortunately I didn’t notice what was going on with this girl until I saw her standing off by herself. She also had a few mites which I have treated her for. Both eyes are shut. With the one side obviously completely swollen. I feel horrible that I didn’t notice this sooner.
I checked all the other chickens. She is the only one displaying this.

How bad were the mites on her face as if a lot, they could have done that. It also could be a sinus or ear infection, infectious coryza.

Keep her separated from the rest of the chickens.

I would take a warm wash rag and hold it on each eye for a minute to see if that improves it. I'd put some Terramycin or triple antibiotic (without painkiller) in her eyes twice a day.

Does she have any symptoms like drainage coming out of her nostrils, any pus in her eyes, or sneezing? Does her breathing seem okay? How have her poops been if you've noticed?

She's probably going to need an antibiotic. Do you have a vet?

I'd give her some vitamin water too as that will give her a boost to help her fight this. We use Poultry Cell or Nutri-Drench.

Thanks! I feel really bad I didn’t notice the mites sooner but they were all just treated with Exzolt a month ago. Which I shouldn’t have to treat again with but every few months. Mites are literally just the bane of my existence. I’ve tried everything. They always come back. They are worse than a cockroach… almost impossible to kill.
I did give her an Elector PSP drench to try to kill the little bastards.

I’m thinking maybe she could have Coryza? She does have a pus discharge out of the eye that’s not completely swollen. No sneezing or nasal discharge. I booked an appointment with my vet for tomorrow. Hopefully it is not too late to help her. She’s pretty thin also. I did syringe her some electrolytes mixed with a parrot extra fat formula that I use with sick chickens when they won’t eat. And I gave her some Rooster Booster.

Ever since having a chicken with an eye issue, my only addition to the advice above is to consider doing a saline rinse of the eyes. According to my vet, the sinus system around the chicken's head/eyes/face can get easily "clogged" and a gentle saline flush can help get things moving.

I hope she pulls through. Are you keeping her inside where she can stay warm?
