Help

I was trying to keep my ducks feet dry so they would heal.... fat chance of that. I soaked their feet and put neosporin on them. They were really calm when I held their back against me and rubbed the ointment on their feet, but no chance for socks... and the area around their water dish is always wet..... I will just have to make sure I change it every day.... it will be "clean" wet... I hope that works.

I've been changing the bedding in their pen every day, and have been putting neosporin on thier little feet. They get the area close to their water dish so wet, no matter what I do. Will it hurt them to get their feet wet while they have the sores on them? I am putting Brewer's Yeast flakes in their food also. How long until I see some improvements. I wonder if I should take them to the vet. I don't know if our vet hear knows anything about ducks.

Tia, I think it's fine it they get their feet wet. After they get out is a good time to put on the ointment.
How are they doing today, any signs of improvement yet?

OOPS I didn't read what you wrote carefully, you were asking about the wetness around their water. There are some old threads where people made waterers for their ducklings out of plastic gallon jugs. The cut holes in the sides just large enough for their heads to get in at a appropriate height. It really cut down on the spillage.

I think they might be doing better. I took one of them to the vet and she said she didn't think it was bumblefoot. I have continued to put neosporin on their feet and I change the bedding often. I got some surgical scrub that I am going to put on to try to ward off bacteria.
