This morning the temp was fine in lock down, and then I came home at 3pm and found that the temp was 76 and the one that was piping was dead

Does anybody have ANY hope for these eggs, or should I just give up now.

Don't give up hope, I wouldn't be surprised if you still have a good hatch. The ones that haven't pipped yet will have their body heat keeping them warm in their eggs, the one that pipped just may not have been able to stay warm enough.

Not an expert in using homemade brooders but I do know that in nature the hen leaves the nest so the temp is not constant. I dont know how much the temp fluctuates, but it has to to some degree. Hang in there.
I wonder what happened to the pipper. Seems it should have finished even in the cooler temp.

I don't know what happen to the piper...... I am just sick. I hope that they will still hatch, I turned the temp back up.

However, on my first hatch, I had a pretty good hatch rate, using the egg carton. However this time,I havent had a good hatch rate. Welll the temp drop will have some to do with it. But I didn't put a carton in this round, because I wanted to see the difference that I got. (**wasn't planning on a 3 year old messing with the temp though)

**NOTE TO SELF: Next time, put the incubator up where its not so easy for him to get to it! ***

Thanks for your hopes though, I appreciate it, I will give it a few more days, since that happened!

OK, a few hours later, I finally got the temp back on the rise, I had to open the bator just to see.. *** SLAP MY HANDS NOW** but I tapped on an ee egg and low and behold.... its CHIRPING!
